Volunteering
Trustees

Any woman who is a member of Wish is eligible to nominate themselves to join the Board of Trustees. Board meetings take place six times a year at the Wish Head Office in London. At the moment, we particularly welcome applications from women with financial or legal knowledge, women with experience of mental distress or the mental health system, and women from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

Befrienders
Volunteer befrienders are very important to the women who use our services, at all stages of their recovery. There are three ways that volunteers can support the women and they are:
- Volunteering with the Community Link Project. This requires a commitment of at least a year and involves weekly face to face contact along with phone calls and letters where possible. Women will be in the community or in the process of a planned discharge from hospital to a community based project. This will be in the London area.
- Befriending a woman in a medium or high secure psychiatric unit. This requires a commitment of at least a year although visits would be less frequent. This may be in London or the surrounding areas.
If you are interested in becoming a befriending volunteer and would like more information, please contact the Wish London office and ask to speak to Penny or Deane. An information pack and application form are available to download below.

General Volunteering
There may also be other opportunities to volunteer for Wish. There are various administrative tasks such as helping with mailouts and membership, and more specialised tasks such as research, marketing and fundraising. If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas, you can contact the London office for further information, or download an information pack and application form below. It will be necessary to obtain a CRB disclosure before becoming a volunteer.
