Stolen Voices
‘Why Gender Matters' is the name of the Wish campaigning arm, with smaller campaigns to research and address specific areas. ‘Stolen Voices' is the first campaigning area, in response to the government's vision of ‘hope, agency and opportunity' in mental health services. It is the first nationwide survey of women service users in prisons, hospitals and the community to provide a quantitative and qualitative statement about what is and is not happening in reality. The consultation profiles both good and bad practice, with the aim of producing a definitive picture of services that will force all stakeholders to address issues that have long been ignored. Topics for the consultation include: treatment and care, staff attitudes and behaviour, community provision and care pathways, human rights and getting women's voices heard.
