The Community Link project works with women who are moving from prison and hospital into the community, as well as women already in the community that need additional practical support and guidance navigating their day-to-day responsibilities. Underlying our model is one simple proposition: asking women what they want, rather than assuming or choosing for them.
Support may include accompanying women to appointments, helping them with debt, employment, maintaining housing or accommodation, and linking in with statutory and non-statutory services. We also offer emotional support by listening to women and offering a safe and secure place for them to share what’s going on in their lives without fear of judgment.
Instead of pushing outcomes that we think are meaningful, we support the Clients we work with to enable self-empowerment. We look to women themselves to decide what is important for them, their priorities, the hopes, and outcomes they would like to realise, and would make the most positive impact in the management of their own lives.
