Community Matters is the charitable giving scheme run by John Lewis & Partners.
Every 3 months, each John Lewis shop selects 3 community groups or charities to help. Customers are then directly involved in deciding how much each nominated group receives, by using a token to vote for the organisation they’d most like to support. Each shop has £3000 per quarter to donate, which is then shared between the charities according to how many votes they’ve received from customers.
WISH was chosen as one of the local groups by John Lewis Stratford earlier this year and customers have been voting to support women at WISH. We are delighted to announce that WISH has received a donation of £1,000 to support our essential work with women with long-term mental health needs.
Grace Forsey, Community Liaison Co-ordinator for John Lewis Stratford said this:
“I found out about Wish whilst looking for charities to support. Whilst reading what they do in the local community it became evident that this charity provides our community with an abundance of support and has fought for women’s voices to be heard.”
Joyce Kallevik, Director of Wish said:
“We are really delighted that partners and customers at John Lewis Stratford have decided to stand together with women at Wish. The money raised will go directly to supporting our essential frontline services for women with long-term mental health needs and will make a vital contribution to keeping those services open for women in such challenging times.”
