Intensive Support Service

Intensive support is essential in the period immediately following release from prison, for women identified as being most vulnerable when back in the community. Through increased contact time, out-of-hours support and crisis intervention, women who have been in and out of the system for many years can make meaningful change in their lives and avoid returning to prison or hospital. With Intensive Support, women are able to engage with services when they have previously not done so; they know they can contact Wish before becoming a danger to themselves or others; they do not endure the same levels of isolation and vulnerability that can lead to the ‘revolving door’ effect. Wish has piloted this service in London, with the aim of rolling it out nationally where possible.
